The great inventor Thomas Alva Edison failed in thousands of experiments before he invented the light bulb. He simply had this to say, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Had it not been for his perseverance, the world might have remained in darkness for much longer.

Our theme for the year, Creativity and Innovation, is inspired by human ingenuity, curiosity and determination behind the great ideas and inventions that have made the world a better place. In an age where conversations are increasingly centred on Artificial Intelligence (AI), we at Vishwakarma Group of Schools believe that the true advantage lies in unique human abilities. To observe keenly, think critically, imagine boldly and create with purpose.

Throughout the year, we will celebrate ideas, nurture the power of observation and encourage our students to question, explore, experiment and innovate. By fostering curiosity, resilience and creativity, we aim to unlock their true potential and empower them to become the innovators and changemakers of tomorrow.

The world our children are growing up in looks very different from the one many of us grew up in.

Answers are available in seconds. Technology is evolving every day. New careers are emerging even as others disappear.

In a world like this, knowing the answer will always matter, but knowing how to think, question, adapt and create will matter even more.

That is why we’ve chosen Creativity & Innovation as our theme for the 2026–27 academic year.

For us, this isn’t about asking every child to become an inventor. It’s about helping every child remain curious.

This is also the direction education is taking across the world. India’s National Education Policy 2020 calls for creativity, critical thinking and experiential learning to become central to learning. The OECD Learning Compass 2030 reminds us that education should prepare children not simply for the world as it is today, but for the world they will help shape tomorrow.

Throughout the year, you’ll see this theme come alive across our schools, through classroom experiences, interactive installations, innovation challenges, student-led initiatives and many opportunities for children to observe, imagine, create and improve. But I hope its impact isn’t limited to school.

When children ask unexpected questions, or comes up with an unusual idea, or say, “What if we tried it differently?”

I hope parents, too, pause before giving the answer and ask instead, “What do you think?”

Sometimes, the most meaningful learning begins with a conversation.

I hope we’ll have many of those together this year.
